North York is a district in the north end of Toronto since it's amalgamation with the city in 1998. Previously it was a township founded in 1922, at a time when it was mostly rural and development from Toronto had yet to expand that far north. It's biggest boom in population and industry came in the 1950’s and 1960’s and has continued to grow since.
The area’s central business district is one of Toronto's most major corporate areas. York University has two campuses in the area, and Seneca College operates several campuses, and Centennial College operates a campus in North York as well.
orth York is home to several museums and the Ontario Science Center, which is one of the first interactive science centers in the world and offers exhibits and activities for all ages year round.
